Buzzy is FDA 510K cleared for injection or blood collection, without limits to any location of the procedure. We don't recommend the ice packs less than one year of age.
In term or term-corrected neonates, vibration has been found effective for heel sticks as in this study.
This study used 92 HZ, the literature supports the faster frequency of Buzzy (180-250) Hz for pain relief.
There is no lower FDA age limit for vibration, but we used 37 weeks adjusted gestational age. This study used 35 weeks, but their vibration was probably too slow (and the sample too small) to detect a difference, though they THOUGHT it helped.
