There is no data on using Buzzy for IUD placement, but using two Buzzy units with heat may help.
We don't have any studies on using Buzzy to reduce IUD pain. However, we do have some ideas about how to best approach it.
The area of pain can travel along dermatomes on either side of the body, so two Buzzy units would cover both sides of the body. Tighter muscles may increase the amount of sharp pain, so using heat with Buzzy may relax the muscles and reduce pain.
Approach with different placement methods. Placing buzzy bilaterally over the hip so that the vibration conducts through the hip bone or suprapubic placement to try and get the vibration as close to the actual pain point are two options.
To summarize:
- Try using heat, not ice.
- Try bilateral hip placement, conducting vibration through the bone.
- Try suprapubic placement.
- Try with two Buzzy units at a time.
